How to Be a Good Influence on Someone Who Isn’t

Aug 8, 2013 | Miscellaneous

In this video blog, I answer a reader question: How do I be a good influence on friends who aren’t necessarily a good influence on me?

Blog Notes:

You can be the kind of friend that other people need to be without getting in the pool with them.

  • You don’t have to chain yourself to someone else in order to help them get where they need to be

Leading by example is the most valuable thing you can do for friends who need to make changes.

  • It’s like when you’re on an airplane—they always tell you to put the oxygen mask on yourself before helping the person next to you.

There are some friends who are just kind of neutral.

  • These friends are more easily led.
  • It’s very important that you step up and be a leader and an example for them.

What do YOU do to be a good example for your friends?
