Surviving the USS Indianapolis with Edgar Harrell

Apr 21, 2021 | The Professional Noticer

This week, Andy hosts Edgar Harrell—survivor of the sinking of the USS Indianapolis.

Tune in to hear Edgar tell his story about leaving San Francisco for a top secret mission in the South Pacific.

After being torpedoed by a Japanese submarine, Edgar and the remaining survivors faced thirst, hunger, and what is considered to be the worst case of shark attacks in history.

Read Edgar’s full story in his book (co-written with his son David) Out of the Depths: An Unforgettable WWII Story of Survival, Courage, and the Sinking of The USS Indianapolis.

These books are now out of print, but you can order one of the last remaining copies from David Harrell.
