Welcome Back to Town
You’ll swear you grew up here.
Somewhere down the road and across the holler from your hometown sits Sawyerton Springs — a place that runs a little behind the times, and is all the better for it. There are no traffic lights (never enough cars to need one), no lawyers (nobody’s found a use for one), and the weekly paper tells folks what they already know. It’s a town you’re certain you’ve visited before, full of characters who feel like old friends.
New York Times best-selling author Andy Andrews grew up in Sawyerton Springs — or at least, that’s where his heart still lives. In this collection of hilariously heartwarming tales, he gathers the stories that first made readers laugh until they cried, then quietly reach for the phone to call someone they love. Beneath every laugh is something deeper: a reminder that the seemingly ordinary parts of our lives are actually extraordinary parts of something much greater.
Long out of print and treasured by the readers lucky enough to have found it, Sawyerton Springs returns at last. Take a deep breath, slow down, and settle in. You just might discover another hometown you want to claim as your own.
A Mostly True Tale Filled with Love, Learning, and Laughter.

Laugh Until You Cry
The funniest thing Andy Andrews has ever written.
For nearly two decades, this was the Andy Andrews book you simply couldn’t buy. The stories inside — the small-town characters, the tall tales, the baseball game Andy still insists really happened — have had readers howling one minute and misty-eyed the next. They’re back in print at last.
“I dare you to read the first chapter aloud to a friend and not fall on the floor laughing.”
— Mark Victor Hansen, co-creator of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series

The Story Behind the Reprint
Some places are worth going back to.
It began in 1995 as Tales from Sawyerton Springs — a collection of stories Andy first wrote for Country America magazine. In 2009 it was republished as Return to Sawyerton Springs, and once those copies sold through, it slipped out of print — quietly becoming the Andy Andrews book his readers could never quite get their hands on.
Now, 17 years after that last edition, it returns as a brand-new hardcover: the same beloved stories and characters, a freshly designed cover, and a few gentle updates along the way. For longtime readers, it’s a homecoming. For everyone else, it’s an invitation.
Early Praise
In the company of giants.
“If you liked Lake Wobegon, you will love Sawyerton Springs! I dare you to read the first chapter aloud to a friend and not fall on the floor laughing.”
“Taking his place in a long line of greats like Garrison Keillor and Winston Groom, Andy Andrews is America’s best storyteller since Mark Twain. Who knew laughter and insight would be such an incredible combination?”
“Hard to stop reading and impossible to forget, Return to Sawyerton Springs is a hilarious masterpiece!”
“…a modern Tom Sawyer.”
